CGAP calls for proposals; Human-Centered Design and Smallholder Finance

17 June, 2014

CGAP is seeking to develop innovative digital financial services using human-centered design. The target group for these services are smallholder farmers in developing countries that have no access to financial services. CGAP thereby invites proposals from branchless banking service providers that would like to partner up with them for this purpose.

CGAP is interested to partner up with branchless banking service providers of any type, that are motivated and excited to develop services that can truly reach their target group. The selection of the winning proposals will be based on the “openness of the providers to bring to market innovative financial services as well as how best they can help them answer their key learning question: How do we design digital products that not only meet any of the wide array of financial services needs of smallholder farming families but also do so in a commercially viable way?

The right partner is an organization who:

  • Has a track record of innovative products;
  • Is eager to reach underserved smallholder farming families;
  • Is already serving these clients, or has approval to target this segment;
  • Has approval for a new or modified product for this client segment within the next year.”

Before submitting a proposal please read the full requirements and instructions.

Submit your proposals to before July 4 for consideration.
