INVESTMENT OFFICER - AGRIBUSINESS/ EASTERN EUROPE & CENTRAL ASIA

Due to the additional risks associated with agricultural finance, both local and international banks are conservative in financing the sector. Moreover, given increasing scarcity of recourses and impacts of climate change, it is crucial that agricultural expansion is done sustainably. This is why there is an important role to play for development banks like FMO.

Agribusiness team in FMO

FMO has set up a team dedicated to substantially expand FMO's portfolio in the agribusiness sector and to manage existing agribusiness clients across the world. The Agribusiness department consist of 4 teams in Africa, Latin America, Asia and Eastern Europe & Central Asia. To further strengthen our department & actively support the growth ambitions of the team, FMO is now looking for an Investment Officer with the focus on Eastern Europe & Central Asia and more specifically on the Turkish Agribusiness market.

YOUR ROLE

Main responsibilities of the Investment Officer are sourcing and structuring of transactions and actively managing the portfolio of existing clients, while closely cooperating with other colleagues in deal teams. (S)He will also be a sparring partner and mentor to Trainees, Analysts and Associate and will report to the Manager Agribusiness. 

The Investment Officer will actively contribute to further developing FMO's agribusiness financing strategy in different regions and commodities. Furthermore, (s)he is willing and able to make a difference by working in international development finance, where FMO builds on long term relationships with our financing partners and our clients, adding value to their business, both from a financial and a sustainability perspective.

YOUR BACKGROUND

Experience and education

  • 5 years’ experience in financial working experience (ideally within a financial institutions or an organizations working in the same environment as FMO) and commercial deal structuring;
  • A Master’s degree;
  • The candidate has demonstrable international work experience, i.e. experience in operating in an internationally ‘diverse’ commercial (banking) environment;

The candidate:

  • has the ability to independently structure and manage corporate banking transactions;
  • is a team player and has a service (client-oriented) entrepreneurial mentality;
  • has good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • is a good organizer and has a critical, yet ‘can do’, solution-oriented attitude;
  • has an affinity with FMO’s mission;
  • has experience in the Agribusiness;
  • proven conversational and writing skills in English and ability to speak another language is a pre (preferably Turkish given the focus for the Job);
