What you do

The Private Sector Development (PSD) Specialist contributes to the elaboration and realisation of a private sector development approach for Cordaid across our focal countries. This approach aims to foster inclusive economic growth and the creation of sustainable employment and incomes. You are responsible for establishing and actively developing and maintening a private sector expertise network, as well as for developing and strengthening of private sector knowledge management within Cordaid.

Together with the PSD colleagues from our Global Office and Country Offices you will be responsible for:

·       Partnership building;

·       Acquisition of funds of institutional donors and draft project proposals;

·       Implementation, monitoring and evaluation of projects;

·       Internal knowledge management and learning;

·       Providing technical advice to the Country Offices in the implementation of PSD projects;

·       Formulating research objectives matching current/new programmes;

·       The team’s participation in international conferences and workshops aiming to share Cordaid’s expertise in PSD with the wider PSD community and foster our innovation.

Who you are

·       You hold a Master degree in Economic Sciences, Finances or Business Administration

·       You have minimum 5 years’ experience in supporting the private sector or in private sector development in developing, and preferably fragile, countries;

·       Experience with networking and lobbying in an international environment;

·       Ability to transpose a vision into an operational strategy and to subsequently apply it in economic development programmes;

·       Knowledge of development issues and of current instruments and trends of private sector support;

·       Knowledge of applicable development cooperation methods and instruments (project management cycle, logical framework, Theory of Change); 

·       Mastery of French and English, Dutch is an asset;

·       Proven competencies in human relations management and leadership capacities: influencing, motivating, coaching, and calling others to action without direct hierarchical relations;

·       Didactic skills in view of dispensing training;

·       Willingness to travel to implementation countries.

What we offer

·       a maximum gross monthly salary up to  € 4857,- based on a 36-hour working week and depending on relevant years of experience;

·       a holiday allowance of 8% and an end of year allowance of 8,3%;

·       a fulltime position (36 hours) initially for one year, with the possibility for extension.
