Our activities encompass evaluations, policy reviews and impact studies, market scoping, structuring and reviewing funds, (micro) finance institutions as well as development initiatives of NGOs. Carnegie Consult also provides consultancy services in the areas of development finance instruments and investment guarantees, as well as relevant government instruments which can be used for co-financing in mixed credit structures and other blended finance structures.

Job description
At present, we are looking to recruit a financial advisory consultant with solid experience in the area of development finance. The consultant is expected to contribute to the design, development and enhancement of innovative financial instruments and/or funds. Examples include credit guarantees, FX instruments, subordinated debt instruments, on-lending funds and off-balance arrangements. In addition, the consultant will support the financial advisory team in further developing its market proposition.

This is a full-time and permanent position, based at our home office in Maarssen, the Netherlands. Part-time hours will be considered.


  • Conducting (long-term and short-term) consultancy assignments including feasibility studies, market scoping and the design, structuring of financial instruments for clients
  • Winning and delivering work for private and public institutions
  • Bringing projects to successful conclusion with the production of high-quality written reports and presentations
  • Engaging with stakeholders to support institutional knowledge, learning and business development
  • Conducting interviews and facilitating focus group discussions
  • Coaching and lead (international) multi-cultural teams
  • Developing market and competitor knowledge to support our business strategy


  • Strong academic credentials up to at least Masters level in a subject relevant to finance, business administration or economics
  • At minimum five years of relevant work experience in banking / investments / (development) finance
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in (development) finance
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling skills
  • Excellent command of Dutch and English (written and spoken) required (working knowledge of business French could be of additional advantage)
  • Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills
  • Competence to keep a clear overview, set and keep priorities in a dynamic and demanding environment
  • Independent personality, self-starting and self-motivating
  • Proven ability to work in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams
  • Willingness to travel
