On behalf of the 15 CSAF members and affiliates, CSAF is pleased to share CSAF’s 2020 State of the Sector report. CSAF annual reports typically present data and learning from the prior calendar year. This year, they begin by reflecting on what has happened since they closed the books on 2019: the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic to every country and sector of the global economy.
While agriculture has not yet been hit as hard as other sectors, COVID-related challenges in the coming months loom on top of the structural barriers that have hampered the growth of CSAF members’ lending over the past four years.
CSAF is deeply concerned about the impact of these disruptions on smallholder farmers and rural communities. As social lenders, CSAF members affirm their commitment to working in partnership with their clients to support them through these difficult times.
