JOSIEN SLUIJS, DIRECTOR TO LEAVE NpM

NpM, Platform for Inclusive Finance announces that Josien Sluijs will leave the organisation as per 1st of August.

“Although I am looking forward to taking on a very interesting new challenge, it is with pain in my heart, that I will be leaving NpM. I have enjoyed greatly working with the staff of the members and the NpM team. We have accomplished so much and maintained our leading position in the world” says Josien. “Together we have established a unique organization dedicated to making access to financial services available as a prerequisite to reaching the SDGs. We have entered into partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders and for the future, I feel that this will continue to be even more important. The organization as I leave it, is well able to take on this role for the future, and it is my strong wish that the members and our stakeholders remain as dedicated as they are now, to our joint goal.”

Soon after Josien started at MicroNed (collaboration on microfinance activities of ICCO, Cordaid, Hivos, Oxfam Novib and Rabobank Foundation) in 2010, she started the conversations to merge MicroNed with NpM. The merger took place in October 2012, and as of then, she took on the role of Director of NpM. NpM has 13 members that invest in the field of inclusive finance and are active in over 97 countries, with almost EUR 4.5 billion committed to inclusive finance.

“We are grateful to Josien”, says Mark van Doesburgh, chairman of NpM, “as, in her role as Director of NpM, she helped us shape our thinking on how to promote financial inclusion, with a strong focus on working towards a responsible sector, such as, impact studies, and working in partnerships around themes, think of the trajectory on Finance for Refugees, and promoting innovation, of which the Geodata for Inclusive Finance and Food is exemplary. Because of her knowledge, compassion and dedication, she was able to unite a wide variety of stakeholders. We wish her all the best in her future role.”

The board of NpM will start with the search of a new director immediately, the vacancy will be announced shortly.
